Does Interest Expansion Work In Facebook Ads?
When setting up your campaign on Facebook ads, you can found on adset level a little box that allows you to expand your detail targeting.
When you enable that feature, it means that you allow facebook’s system to reach a broader of your audience than those you defined in the detailed targeting section.
For the first time when that feature just released, I barely use it, even never use it. Since I found that by enabling that feature, it reaches a very broad audience than my detailed targeting. Since it targets a very broad audience, it’s harder to get valid data about winning audience targeting, that’s why I never use it.
Until when we discussed with someone on Facebook, and she said that feature has improved and it might get better results.
If you targeting people who have an interest in football, while facebook’s system thinks that your targeting is harder and more expensive result, the Facebook system will reach the audience in the same category as your detailed targeting, such as basketball ( Sports category ).
After I check it, I find it is different from what it was. When enabling that feature, your audience broader than detailed targeting, but it is not too broader than it used to be.
So if you feeling the same way I was, you should try it yourself expanding your detailed targeting. Since I found it works, and it might work for you too.
